Cooperative = Volunteering
The PRC operates as a cooperative center which means it relies on members to work together to provide services to the whole membership. Participating and volunteering your time is a terrific way to make new friends, spend time with old ones, use your own special skills and maybe learn new ones to make a difference in your community.
There are many programs and events that occur throughout the year, and people like you are needed to help with the details. If you’re interested in a deeper level of commitment, consider joining one of our diverse committees, become a Board member (see our Open Board Positions) or even lead one of the Developmental Playgroup Classes.
PRC Members are required to fulfill a minimum of 2 volunteer credits per year to help run our programs and events. Lifetime members and sustaining members do not have a Member Participation obligation.
Examples of some typical volunteer opportunities include:
- Help set-up for 1/2 hour before an vent (1 credit)
- Write and submit a blurb about an event that you attended (1 credit)
- Donate baked goods (1 credit)
- Volunteer during an event for 2-3 hours (2 credits)
Volunteer opportunities are updated regularly here.
In Lieu of Volunteering
If you choose not to volunteer, you can opt to pay an annual fee of $75.00 at the time of registration in addition to your PRC Membership fee and Class fees.
If at the end of the calendar year you have not fulfilled your volunteer requirement and did not pay in lieu of volunteering at the time of registration, you will be billed $150.00 at the end of your membership year.
