Cooperative means Volunteering
The PRC operates as a cooperative center, which means it relies on members to work together to provide services to the whole membership. Participating and volunteering your time is a terrific way to make new friends, spend time with old ones, and use your own special skills or learn new ones to make a difference in your own community.
There are many programs and events that occur throughout the year and members are always needed to help with the details. If you’re interested in a deeper level of commitment then please consider joining one of our diverse committees, become a Board member (see our Open Board Positions) or even lead one of the developmental playgroup classes.
Members are required to fulfill a minimum of 2 volunteer credits per year to help run our programs and events. Lifetime members and sustaining members do not have a member participation obligation.
Examples of some typical volunteer opportunities include:
- Help set-up for 1/2 hour before a PRC event (1 credit)
- Write and submit a blurb about a PRC event that you attended (1 credit)
- Donate baked goods for a PRC event (1 credit)
- Volunteer during a PRC event for 2-3 hours (2 credits)
Volunteer opportunities are updated regularly here.
In Lieu of Volunteering
If you choose not to volunteer, you can pay an annual fee of $75 at the time of your Class registration in addition to your PRC Membership Fee and PRC Class fees.
If, at the end of the year, you have not fulfilled your Volunteer requirement and did not pay “in lieu of volunteering” at the time of registration, you will be billed $150 at the end of your PRC Membership year.
