Outreach Funding,
Volunteers & Partners

Our Outreach program is funded by some amazing organizations, as well as by generous donations from individuals in the community. Additionally, fundraising events throughout the year raise money to enhance the Outreach Program. We are very appreciative of the support from our benefactors and partners that make the PRC Outreach program possible, including:

  • The Port Washington Community Chest for generously provided funding since 1982.

  • The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation

Stepping Stones Classes

The Stepping Stones program is a 3 part class series that provides eligible families with an enriching early childhood and Pre-K readiness experience including on site classes, field trips, and curriculum related events.

Playful Pebbles

The first class in this series is a parent and child class for 0 - 18 months of age. This class provides parents and caregivers opportunities to connect and bond with their children through finger play songs, movement activities, and friendship building.

Brave Boulders

The second class in this series is for children 1.5 - 3 years of age with a caregiver present. In this class children socialize and explore classroom materials and are introduced to developmentally appropriate classroom routines and activities. Caregivers get a feel for the early childhood classroom and take away with them educationally engaging activities that can be easily re-created in the home.

Marvelous Mountains

The last class in this series is a separation class for students aged 3 - 4.5 years. The class provides children with an opportunity to learn the routines and structure of a classroom without their caregiver present. Students in this class enjoy participating in fine motor activities, emergent literacy and math activities, arts and crafts, science, cooking, yoga, and movement activities. Students who graduate from the Stepping Stones program display preparedness and confidence as they advance to Pre-K.

Scholarship Program

The PRC offers financial assistance for families to participate in classes in the form of scholarships. These are awarded on a sliding scale based on the applicant’s needs. In addition to classes, many other PRC events are offered at a reduced rate to qualified families.
